Teachers/TAs removed from CMIS appear as Inactive in People in the course too. This is an unintended effect of a change we made during the semester break. Students cannot see inactive users in People.
Ultimately, this has little effect on the conduct of the course. The students do not see the wrong information. The instructor view is admittedly misleading, so we are working on a solution for thisto automatically remove enrolments that have been inactive for 3 days. This aims to balance the needs of managing inactive enrolments while ensuring a timeframe that should accommodate most cases. Once we have tested the solution, we will work to implement it. |

The rationale for introducing inactive enrolment is to prevent data loss associated with user removal and subsequent reinstatement. Instead of completely removing a user enrolment from the course and their associated data from a system, their enrolment status is changed to "inactive". This would allow the data to be preserved and easily reactivated when the user is reinstated. |
The tables below summarise how inactive enrolments are treated in an active course, and what occurs if a previously inactive student is reactivated.
