Reading it in your scheduled semester

LECTURE will be pre-allocated to you. If you are scheduled to read it but have not been pre-allocated, please register for it in ModReg Select Modules (from Round 0 onwards for current students and from Round 1 onwards for newly admitted students).

TUTORIALS will be open for balloting in ModReg. You will need to select and rank your timeslots in Select Tutorials/Labs, and it will be allocated to you based on the priority scoring.

Reading it after your scheduled semester

LECTURE will be open for selection in ModReg Select Modules, to the following groups:

  • Round 0 & Round 1: Not open
  • Round 2: Year 4 students and E-Scholars
  • Round 3: Students in BEng programmes (Cohort 2019/20 - 2021/22) 

TUTORIALS will be open for balloting in ModReg. You will need to select and rank your timeslots in Select Tutorials/Labs, and it will be allocated to you based on the priority scoring.

Reading it before your scheduled semester

Please submit an appeal in ModReg (Appeal Type: "Unable to Secure Module") after Round 3 ends, and we will consider your request subject to available quota.

1. To read this module, you must have been either exempted from the Qualifying English Test (QET) or obtained Band 3 in the QET. You may check if you are exempted HERE.

2. Students who are required to take ES1000 Foundation Academic English and/or ES1103 English for Academic Purposes after taking the QET must pass the modules before you are allowed to read this module.

1. Computer Engineering students should read CS2101 to fulfil the writing/communication requirement. (Applicable to students from Cohort 2020/21 and before)

2. Students from USP, UTCP and RVRC Programme should read the equivalent writing / communication modules (UWC2101%, UTW1001%, ES1601, RVX100%) with their respective special programmes. 

3. Students on the Double Degree Programme should refer to the DDP programme structure for details on fulfilling their writing/communication requirements.

Students reading the module before your internshipit in your scheduled semester

Please register for the module in ModReg Select Modules. 

Students who are scheduled to read it may register for the module in ModReg Select Modules (all rounds). For the remaining students, please note that priority is given to senior students to clear this module in time for graduation

Students reading the module during your internship

CDE Office of Undergraduate Programmes will email to eligible students with instructions to register for the evening classes (outside ModReg), subject to available vacancies.
Note:PLEASE DO NOT select the evening lecture in ModReg as successful applicants will be pre-allocated both the evening lecture and tutorial for this module. Evening lecture in ModReg is meant for students not currently on internship.
