Comment: Added explanations for CDMS and CMS.

The Syllabus in Canvas will be updated exclusively via CDMS(Class Data Management System), for all Academic courses.

  1. Login to Canvas and proceed to your Course.

  2. On the left-hand course navigation links, click CDMS.

  3. Update the items accordingly. Verify that the information pulled from CMS (Curriculum Management System) is correct, if applicable.

    Notes:
Static Course Info includes: Course Description, Units, Grading Basis, Pre-requisites / Co-requisites / Preclusions, Workload hours and Timetable/Exam Info.
    Except for Static Course Info:

    1. When any CMS-pulled item is already published to Canvas, re-publishing is required.

    2. When any CMS-pulled item is not yet published to Canvas, please wait and verify that the refreshed info is correct, then publish to Canvas (CMS update cycle may take a while; this is not a CDMS process).

  4. Once ready to publish, click Save & Publish this section to Canvas. Repeat this for the
    remaining items. Example:

You may also use the Save & Publish all to Canvas, to publish all items at once.

  5. You may refresh the screen to reflect the updated status. Else, proceed to the Syllabus page
and verify the items that you have published. Example:

  6. To update any other information where editable, proceed back to CDMS.
Note: Where info is from CMS, please proceed with the usual CMS processes and workflow accordingly. Once CMS refreshes its data, please re-publish the necessary items to Canvas.
