Rationale for inactive enrolmentsWe introduced this to prevent data loss associated with user removal and subsequent reinstatement. Instead of completely removing a student and their associated data from the course (as it was prior to May 2023), their enrolment status is changed to inactive.
Associated data includes the student’s participation in assignments, quizzes, discussions and groups, as well as any grades. This enables seamless and complete reactivation, if a user needs to be reinstated. As of Jan 2025, all inactive enrolments are removed in Week 3 at the start of the W grade period, for a cleaner display. Any inactive enrolments that appear after this date indicate a student who has dropped the course. These inactive enrolments will be retained so that the associated data can be reinstated, if needed. |
