What happens to student submissions that include file uploads? Is there a folder where submissions are stored? Is it true that submissions can only be accessed through the relevant assignment?

In Canvas, there is no concept of storage folders for assignments. In the SpeedGrader sidebar, you can see the details of a student's submission.
