Do I need approval if I save or publish anything in CDMS?
CDMS operates independently of formal approval processes and is not linked to the business rules of other systems, such as CMS. Clicking ‘Save’ or ‘Populate’ in CDMS will not initiate any approval workflow within your Department or Faculty.
a. Information to be updated in CMS
For Faculty-controlled and University-controlled courses, please follow your usual departmental procedures, including obtaining Deanery approval, BUS approval and any other required clearances. This protected information cannot be updated in CDMS.
b. Instructor-controlled courses
For Instructor-controlled courses, please check with your Department or Faculty whether any additional approvals or steps are required, such as informing the administrative office of minor changes. Course instructors may make the necessary updates but clicking ‘Save’ or ‘Populate’ in CDMS will not trigger any approval process within your Department or Faculty.
Please therefore ensure that all information is final and properly approved before adding it to your Canvas Syllabus through CDMS.
