AI Companion for Teaching and Learning

Enabling Zoom AI Companion:

  1. Sign in to the NUS Zoom Web Portal and go to https://nus-sg.zoom.us/profile/setting

  2. Click on AI Companion on the top horizontal tab.

  3. There are a few user-level settings that you may choose to enable or disable for all your future meetings.

  4. Categories are: Meeting, Webinar, Team Chat, Recordings, Clips, Whiteboard, Hub, Tasks.
    We will just focus on Meeting (Questions and Summaries), and Recordings in this AI Companion for Teaching and Learning guide.


Meeting
Allow hosts and invited participants to ask AI Companion questions about the meeting. Questions are answered based on the conversation transcript.

  1. Option to Automatically Start and Share Access with

    1. All participants and invitees

    2. All participants only from when they join

    3. Participants and invitees in our organization

    4. Participants in our organization only from when they join

    5. Only meeting host

  2. Meeting Summary with AI Companion
    As a host, you can generate a summary. Summaries are sent after the meeting has ended based on the share options.

    1. Turn on meeting summary automatically when meetings start

    2. Send an email notification when sharing with users

    3. Option to Automatically share summary with:

      1. Only me (meeting host)

      2. Only meeting host, co-hosts, and alternative hosts

      3. Only me (meeting host) and meeting invitees in our organization

      4. All meeting invitees including those outside of our organization

  3. Remind me to turn on AI Companion when I'm hosting a meeting
    Enable this, if you like to be reminded to turn on AI Companion at the beginning of each meeting that was not set for AI Companion to auto-start.

  4. Auto-delete meeting summaries
    Enable this and you can specify time range of 30/60/90/120 days.

  5. Use screen share content with OCR
    Enable this to use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to generate more accurate and relevant AI Companion results. OCR converts images of text screen shared during a meeting into machine-readable text.

  6. Use meeting chat messages
    Enable this to use in-meeting chat messages, excluding direct messages, to provide additional context to AI Companion features.

Recording
Cloud recordings can have recording highlights, summary and smart chapters, next steps, and meeting coach.

  1. Option to Automatically Create with each recording:

    1. Recording highlights

    2. Summary and smart chapters - Chapters with overview. Host can edit chapters.

    3. Next steps - Summary of actions to take.

    4. Meeting coach - Meeting coach gives speakers metrics about their talk-listen ratio, talk speed, filler words, and shortest/longest spiel.
      Hosts and participants can view their own metrics; the admin can view them all.
