Add multiple users to a blog (small numbers)

There are several ways to add users to a blog.

For small numbers (20 or less, give or take), the best way is to use the Blog & User Creator.

Click Blog & User Creator

From the blog's Dashboard:

  1. Mouseover Users.
  2. Click Blog & User Creator.

Fill in the fields

  1. Add the Username. Try to use the NUS-ID e.g a0012345 or citabc
  2. Add the User Email address. Try to use the NUS email address e.g. a0012345@nus.edu.sg or citabc@nus.edu.sg
  3. Do not fill the User Password. Leaving it blank allows the system to generate a password.
  4. Select the desired User Role. (More about user roles.)

Repeat this for the number of users that you have. If you need to add more users, click the Add more button near the bottom of the page.

Once done, scroll to the bottom of the page, then click Submit.

If there are no errors, jump to the last step - Inform all the people you have added.

If there are errors, continue with next three steps.

If there are errors (1)

Sometimes, you may encounter messages like this after you have submitted the form.

The most likely cause is that the Username or Email address already exists in Blog.nus.

Click X to close the message. DO NOT close the browser/page/tab/window.

If there are errors (2): Take note of the errors

Scroll up and down the list to look for messages in red.

  • If you see Email already exists, take note of the email address.
  • If you see Username already exists, take note of the username.

If there are errors (3): Add Existing Users

  1. Click Add New, under Users.
  2. Add the existing email address or username.
  3. Choose the Role.
  4. Click Add Existing User.

Repeat for each user you need to add. Then go to final step.
