Quick Overview
TSWMS relationship with Canvas (and CDMS)
TSWMS has replaced CMIS in determining teaching staff access to Canvas and CDMS. To ensure teaching staff can access their course(s) in Canvas and CDMS, please confirm they are tagged with the appropriate role and published in TSWMS. Once TSWMS syncs the data, teaching staff should have access the following day.

Proper tagging in TSWMS will ensure teaching staff have access to edit their Syllabus page via CDMS. Ref.: I am enrolled as a Teacher in Canvas but I cannot access CDMS?

Courses are provisioned in Canvas and CDMS at least three months before the start of Semester 1 or 2. Where possible, perform your tagging and publishing in TSMWS as early as possible to allow instructors sufficient time to prepare class information and update course contents.
TSWMS does not apply to ‘Non-Academic’ courses, which remain independently managed by their respective course owner(s).
Blue Student Feedback will ingest records from TSWMS commencing from Academic Year 2026/27 onwards.

Updating TSWMS records synced from CMIS
In TSWMS, to perform CMIS data sync and publish records in course planning, follow these steps:
Perform CMIS Sync and EduRec Sync
CMIS Sync is only required if you had previously tagged in CMIS. Otherwise, you can add classes and tag manually in TSWMS.
To port data from CMIS to TSWMS, the following three fields must be completed in CMIS:
Class No
Activity Type
Tagged User (NUS ID)
Navigate to the 'Course Planning' page.
You may perform CMIS Sync and EduRec Sync in bulk across multiple courses …
… or individually in the course details view.
Use 'Accept CMIS Sync' to confirm records for porting over.
Use 'Reject CMIS Sync' to reject non-matching records that should not be included in the teaching plan.
Note: Colour-coded flags indicate sync status. A green flag is not mandatory; you can manually create records in TSWMS and publish them (these will display as grey "New Manual Data").
After performing 'CMIS Sync', additional records may appear in the teaching plan. Note the colour indicators to identify their status.
Perform EduRec Sync.
Update Teaching Workload Details.
Update the teaching workload records as necessary and save.
Publish Records
Finally, once the details have been verified, click 'More Actions' and select 'Publish' to make the records visible in downstream systems, including CDMS and Canvas.
