Download or export class roster/list

Download or export class roster/list

There a few ways to export your class roster, depending on the information you require.

NUS Tools

Use this method unless you intend to upload Grades or create Groups.

NUS Tools (People) displays your class roster/list. The enrolled students' information can be exported to a spreadsheet or PDF.

The information includes:

  • Photo

  • Login ID (NUS-ID)

  • SIS ID (same as Login ID for NUS students)

  • Section(s)

  • Role

  • Student Number (Matriculation number)

  • Email (actual NUS-ID email, not friendly-mail alias)

  • Academic Programme

  • Faculty

  • Admit Term

These columns are not displayed in NUS Tools (People), but the information can be exported:

  • Display Name

  • Academic Career

Friendly-mail aliases and subjects taken are not available in Canvas.

Grades export

Use this method to get the class roster template to import Grades to your course.

To export the class roster, click Grades on the left-hand navigation menu of your course.

Click Export on the top right, then Export Current Gradebook View or Export Entire Gradebook.

This produces a csv file which includes:

  1. any graded assignments which you have added to the course,

  2. matriculation numbers (under Integration ID column), and

  3. roster information (under Section column). This includes information on sections and tutorial groups.
