Transform CSV for Import in Grades
Â
This will only work for students' accounts.
(It is not applicable for staff, visitors, and non-NUS accounts.)Matriculation numbers are in this format: A, seven digits and an alphabet e.g. A1234567Z.
If you:
have graded work which only has student matriculation numbers or
use the bubble form system
You will need to map these matriculation numbers to NUS-IDs as Canvas requires the NUS-IDs to import marks to Grades.
Using Transform CSV For Import, teachers can upload a CSV with matriculation numbers and marks, and it will transform the CSV into the format that Canvas needs.Â
Steps
Go to Grades on the course navigation.
Download the template. Open it and add your students' matriculation numbers in column A and the respective points for the assignment in column B. Leave the headers as is. You may update CA1 to the title of your assignment.
If you are creating the CSV from scratch, please follow this format:Sample of imported CSV file into Grades
Student ID,CA1 A1234567B,90 A1111111C,89 A2323232E,92
Â
Once you have filled in the CSV, click Transform CSV For Import to upload it. Please wait for the transformation to be completed. This might take a while if there are many records.
Â
There will be a message to say that it has downloaded the transformed CSV. The transformed CSV will have the original filename appended with transformed e.g.
Original: test.csv
Transformed: test-transformed.csv
Please verify the data before proceeding to import the transformed CSV into Grades.
