Restricting access to individual video by date range
In Videos/Panopto, if for some reason, you wish to set a release date for a specific video or restrict the particular video for a specific time frame or expiry date.
You can mouseover the image of the Video as shown below and select Settings.
In the Overview section, under Availability section
a) Under “Sessions become available” select “starting on” and set the date you want the videos in the folder to be available
e.g. 11 Aug 2025 12pm as shown below.
Note: This will mean this particular video will be available/viewable to students on the date set.
c) Under “Sessions remain available“ select “Until“ and set the date you want the videos in the folder to be available
e.g. 31 Aug 2025 6pm as shown below.
Note: This will mean this particular video will not be available/viewable to students on the date set.
Important Note: Videos/Panopto is an external tool in Canvas and it’s hosted by Cloud Servers, do allow 5 minutes difference from the time you set before viewers/students can view due to the sync issue for Cloud Servers, if you like students to be able to access at 12pm sharp it’s recommended you set 11:55am.
Once you have set the video, you will see the notification on the video as shown below.
e.g. “Will be available to viewers on 11 Aug 2025 12pm“
