This page provides information on course registration for the following courses:

EE2211 Introduction to Machine Learning

How to register for the course

Reading it in your scheduled semester

LECTURE will be open for selection in CourseReg Select Courses. Please register for it in CourseReg Select Courses (from Round 1 onwards).

TUTORIALS will be open for balloting in CourseReg. You will need to select and rank your timeslots in Select Tutorials/Labs, and it will be allocated to you based on the priority scoring.

Reading it after your scheduled semester

LECTURE will be open for selection in CourseReg Select Courses, to the following groups:

  • Round 1 onwards: Students reading it in their scheduled semester
  • Round 2 onwards: Year 4 students and E-Scholars
  • Round 3: Students in BEng programmes (Cohort 2019/20 - 2022/23) 

TUTORIALS will be open for balloting in CourseReg. You will need to select and rank your timeslots in Select Tutorials/Labs, and it will be allocated to you based on the priority scoring.

Reading it before your scheduled semester

Please submit an appeal in CourseReg (Appeal Type: "Unable to Secure course") after Round 3 ends, and we will consider your request subject to available quota. 

Pre-requisites and Preclusions

EE2211 has the following pre-requisites: CS1010E and (MA1511 or MA1505) and (MA1508E or MA1513 or CE2407B). Advisory: MSE students will self-study calculus while EVE students will self-study linear algebra.

How to register for the course

Reading it in your scheduled semester

Pre-requisites and Preclusions

IE2141 is precluded from Residential College 4 Junior Seminars (UTC1702x). Effective from the AY2019/20 cohort onwards, students who have read a RC4 Junior Seminar (UTC1702x) will be exempted from the IE2141 graduation requirement. You will be required to take an additional 4 MCs of UEM in place of IE2141 to meet the minimum number of MCs required for graduation. 


ES2631 Critique and Communication of Thinking and Design

With effect from AY2022/2023 Semester 1, ES2631 Critique and Communication of Thinking and Design has replaced ES1531 / ES2531 Critical Thinking and Writing.

How to register for the course

Please register for the course in CourseReg Select Courses.

Round 1 onwards is reserved for students who are scheduled to read it this semester.

Round 2 onwards is reserved for Year 4 students and E Scholar students.

Round 3 is open to all BEng students up to Cohort AY2022/23. 

Pre-requisites and Preclusions

1. To read this course, you must have been either exempted from the Qualifying English Test (QET) or obtained Band 3 in the QET. You may check if you are exempted HERE.

2. Students who are required to take ES1000 Foundation Academic English and/or ES1103 English for Academic Purposes after taking the QET must pass the courses before you are allowed to read this course.

Other Important Information

1. Computer Engineering students should read CS2101 to fulfil the writing/communication requirement. (Applicable to students from Cohort 2020/21 and before)

2. Students from USP, UTCP and RVRC Programme should read the equivalent writing / communication courses (UWC2101%, UTW1001%, ES1601, RVX100%) with their respective special programmes. 

3. Students on the Double Degree Programme should refer to the DDP programme structure for details on fulfilling their writing/communication requirements.

EG2401A Engineering Professionalism

Students are encouraged to read this course before or during the semester on internship. Failing which, you can still register for it in a later semester.

Students reading it in your scheduled semester

Please register for the course in CourseReg Select Courses. 

Students who are scheduled to read it may register for the course in CourseReg Select Courses (all rounds).

Students reading the course during your internship

Students who are eligible for IA are also eligible to apply for EG2401A evening classes in the same semester. CDE Office of Undergraduate Programmes will email such students with instructions to register outside CourseReg. Allocation will be subject to available vacancies.

Note: PLEASE DO NOT select the evening lecture in CourseReg as successful applicants will be pre-allocated both the evening lecture and tutorial for this course. Evening lecture in CourseReg is meant for students not currently on internship.


CDE2501 Liveable Cities (AY2021/22 Cohort onwards)

With effect from AY2023/2024 Semester 1, CDE2501 Liveable Cities has replaced EG2501 Liveable Cities.

How to register for the module

Reading it in your scheduled semester

LECTURE will be pre-allocated to you. If you are scheduled to read it but have not been pre-allocated, please register for it in CourseReg Select Courses (from Round 0 onwards for current students and from Round 1 onwards for newly admitted students).

TUTORIALS will be open for balloting in CourseReg. You will need to select and rank your timeslots in Select Tutorials/Labs, and it will be allocated to you based on the priority scoring.

Reading it before or after your scheduled semester

LECTURE will be open for selection in CourseReg Select Courses, to the following groups:

  • Round 1 onwards: Students reading it in their scheduled semester
  • Round 2 onwards: Year 4 students and E-Scholars
  • Round 3: All NUS students (Cohort AY2021/22 onwards)

TUTORIALS will be open for balloting in CourseReg. You will need to select and rank your timeslots in Select Tutorials/Labs, and it will be allocated to you based on the priority scoring.

With effect from AY2022/23 Semester 2, EG2501/CDE2501 Liveable Cities has been accepted into the list of courses approved under the General Education pillars

Non-CDE students from Cohort AY2021/22 onwards may read EG2501/CDE2501 Liveable Cities to fulfil the General Education Singapore Studies pillar.

CDE students from Cohorts AY2021/22 onwards are to read EG2501/CDE2501 Liveable Cities to fulfil the Sustainable Futures pillar, and a GESS-coded course (or equivalent, for RVRC, NUSC, USP) to fulfil the Singapore Studies pillar. Double-counting is not allowed between two pillars of the Common Curriculum.
