- Microsoft Teams is unable to support courses having enrolments greater than 25,000 or if the course has more than 100 owners.
- Canvas Course Title is synced to Team Name.
- Canvas Roles mapping in Teams:
- Teacher role in Canvas is provisioned as Owner in Teams.
- TA role in Canvas is provisioned as Owner in Teams.
- Course Coordinator role in Canvas is provisioned as Owner in Teams.
- Student role in Canvas is provisioned as Member in Teams.
- Guest Student role in Canvas is provisioned as Member in Teams.
- Only active NUS accounts (excluding visitor accounts) will be synced.
- If the course has users with non-NUS emails, they will not be synced to Class Team even though the message says the sync is completed successfully.
- Visitor (EXT) accounts cannot be synced.
- This integration can be for any course in Canvas (not restricted to only academic courses).
- It is recommended to enable the provisioning only when everything is in a steady state. For example, if you need to combine/de-combine course sites or change the course title, it's best to do these before enabling the provisioning.
- There is existing auto-provisioning of Microsoft Teams for Teaching based on EduRec groups. It provisions 1 class team per group for NUS academic courses only:
- Lecture (L)
- Design Lecture (D)
- Packaged Lecture (P)
- Seminar-Style Course Class (E)
- Sectional Teaching (S)
This is different from the Teams provisioning from Canvas. - Format of the team name auto-provisioned for academic courses: term_coursecode_classgroup.
For example, 2310_CIT1000_L1 - Format of the team name which is provisioned from Canvas: coursetitle.
For example, CIT1000 Induction Course [2310]
Please activate only the needed provisioned Class Teams to avoid confusing your students. |
