Q2: If I have a need to remain overseas, can I appeal to study remotely?
A long-distance learning option is no longer maintained for students who are overseas. Please make immediate arrangements to travel to Singapore. If you continue to remain overseas, you would be deemed to have done so for personal reasons, which would require an application for Leave of Absence. Applications should be made by the end of the second instructional week, failing which you may be liable for fees.
Q3: If my entry to Singapore is delayed or need to serve my Stay Home Notice, can I appeal to attend some classes remotely?
For EG1311, you can attend the first lab session (beginning in Week 2 or 3) remotely, if your entry is delayed or if you need to serve SHN. In-person attendance is expected for the remaining labs.
For the remaining F2F modules, in-person attendance is expected. Please inform your respective module lecturers or tutors about your situation, to see if alternative arrangements can be worked out.
Q4: If all my classes are taught online, can I remain overseas?
While lectures and tutorials may be online, it is possible that assessments could be conducted face-to-face. The mode of assessment will be decided later in the semester, subject to prevailing safe management measures. If the eventual mode of the final exam is face-to-face, you will be expected to attend the exam in person, and no online option will be made available.
Q5: I am taking bridging modules or other NUS modules. How do I tell whether they are online or face-to-face?
A: You can check NUSMods to see if the class venue is listed as a classroom/lecture theatre or "E-Learn".
Q3: I understand that I have to serve extra 7 days of LOA on top of my SHN. Can I check in to my campus housing right after the SHN and serve the 7 days of LOA on campus?
Campus housing is managed by the Office of Student Affairs. If you have already secured campus housing for the coming semester, staff from the Residential Life team will get in touch with you to advise you accordingly on post-SHN matters. Please keep a lookout for emails from your hostel. For enquiries, please visit https://www.hosteladmission.nus.edu.sg/
