It helps protect your meeting from intruders, as recommended by the NUS IT Advisories.It is also useful

if you need to Pre-Assign for Breakout Room, as it will require participants to sign in with their NUS Zoom accountIn NUS, the recommendation is to select NUS Zoom Sign In required to Join.

Options available for "Only Authenticated users can join"

  • "Sign in with NUS Zoom account at https://nus-sg.zoom.us"
    NUS Staff and students to sign in via SSO to their Zoom Accounts with NUS email address before they can join the session.
    This is the default optionProvisions are made so any Zoom accounts with NUS email addresses can join.
    Current domains added by default are *.nus.edu.sg,*.u.nus.edu,*.comp.nus.edu.sg,*.partner.nus.edu.sg,*.visitor.nus.edu.sg,*.duke-nus.edu.sg,*.u.duke.nus.edu,*.yale-nus.edu.sg,*.u.yale-nus.edu.sg
    Click Edit to add other domains.

  • "Sign in with any Zoom account"
    Participants will have to sign in with any Zoom Account before they can join the session. Users without Zoom accounts can
    sign up for a free Zoom account.

  • "Sign in with SSO (nus-sg) only"
    Participants will have to sign in with NUS Zoom Account before they can join the session.
    Add Authentication ExceptionsNUS Staff and students to sign in via SSO.
    Staff and students who are not under NUS Zoom will not be able to join. There are some Yale-NUS staff and students who are not in NUS Zoom, and are with Yale-NUS Zoom.

What if I have external non-NUS participants?

You can add Authentication Exception using the external guest their email address.

Pre-requisites: For Only for Generate Automatically meeting ID. , not Personal Meeting ID.

  1. Go to https://nus-sg.zoom.us/meeting?type=upcoming
  2. Click on the Meeting Topic.
  3. Click on "Edit this Meeting" button.
    Note: You cannot edit this meeting if the meeting has started. You will need to End this meeting first, before you can edit.
  4. Under Require authentication to join, click Add Authentication Exception.
    Add Full Name and Email Address.
    Add Participants if there are more guests.
    Click Save once doneto save the Authentication Exception addition.


  5. Verify the Meeting options again.If the meeting was scheduled in LumiNUS, go to to LumiNUS Conferencing page and Sync Meeting from Zoom.

    Note: The change will be effective as long as nobody has joined the session
