Don’t see NUS Tools in your course?

Go to Settings > Navigation and move NUS Tools to the visible section.

To delete a section, click the cross icon, then click OK to confirm deletion.

People (Course Roster)

Export Course Roster

NUS Tools provides a course roster with a large photo and additional student information.

  1. Use the search bar to search for a particular student.

  2. Use the All Student Roles drop-down list to only view a specific student role.

  3. Use the Section filter selector drop-down list to choose a specific section or multiple sections to display, instead of the whole cohort. Click Apply Filters after selecting section(s).

  4. Click the three dots, then Export. The export options include:

    1. the student role,

    2. the section(s) to export.

    3. choice of export columns, including photo,

    4. export to spreadsheet or PDF, and

    5. depending on your selection for (c), whether you want:

      1. one student per row i.e. multiple values (e.g. Sections) are combined for each student and listed in one row, or

      2. duplicated rows i.e. if a student is in two Sections (e.g. lecture and tutorial), the student’s information will be in two rows, one for each Section.

Export with photos will take a significantly longer time.

Add Teacher to closed/past course

  1. Courses that are closed (i.e. past the End date in Course Settings) are in read-only mode.

  2. NUS Tools allows you to add a Teacher to a closed/past course.

    1. As all roles are in read-only mode in past courses, there is only one standard role for users added to past courses: the Teacher role. S/he cannot modify the past course.

  3. You will need to have a Teacher-based role in the past course or be a Canvas department representative/unit admin to do this.

  1. Click the three dots on the right.

  2. Click Add Teacher.

  3. In the window that appears, use the search field to find the person you want to add. You can search using the person’s name or NUS-ID. Friendly-email aliases will not work.

  4. Click Search.

  5. Select the relevant person (there may be more than one result).

  6. Click Add Teacher.

  7. Wait while the teacher is added to the course. You will see a message in green:
    The user <NUS-ID> is being added to the course.

  8. Once the message and window clears, the user has been added. Please verify in People in the course.
