Locally
During You can save in-meeting chats to your computer or the Zoom Cloud either manually or automatically.

If you save the chat locally to your computer, it will save any chats that you can see—those sent directly to you and those sent to everyone in the meeting or webinar.

If you save the chat to the cloud, it will only save chats that were sent to everyone and messages sent while you were cloud recording.


To save locally during the meeting

  1. Click on Chat in Zoom control panel at the bottom.
  2. Click on More button at the bottom of the chat window. Select Save chat.
  3. It will save your chat to your local recording location.
    Default is Documents folder > Zoom > Folder with meeting topic.

To enable Auto-save chat locally

  1. Sign in to the NUS Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click In Meeting (Basics).
  4. Look for Auto Saving Chats and slide it ON

  1. Note: Auto-saving chat will only auto-save for the host, and thus the host has to be present in the meeting for a local chat transcript to be saved

Enable Save Chat to Zoom Cloud

  1. Sign in to the NUS Zoom web portal
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Recording
  4. Enable Cloud Recording
  5. Search for Auto Saving Chats and slide it ON to enable it.
  6. Check the box "Save chat messages from the meeting.

Accessing In-Meeting Chats saved on the Cloud

  1. Sign in to the NUS Zoom web portal
  2. Click Recording
  3. Click on topic
  4. Download the .txt file
