What is the default mode of teaching and learning for the CDE common curriculum?
A: In line with the government’s move towards an endemic state for COVID-19 and with our high vaccination rates, we will be having maximal face-to-face and online classes, in view of safe distancing measures. For the AY2021/2022 classes from Semester 2 of AY2021/2022 onwards, where prevailing safe management measures permit. In-person attendance is expected for all face-to-face classes, including examinations, which will be shifting back to face-to-face as the default.
For the AY2022/2023 Cohort freshmen, please refer to the advisories the modes of teaching and learning for the specific courses below:

Q2: If I have a need to remain overseas, can I appeal to study remotely?
A long-distance learning option is no longer maintained for students who are overseas. Please make immediate arrangements to travel to Singapore. If you continue to remain overseas, you would be deemed to have done so for personal reasons, which would require an application for Leave of Absence. Applications should be made by the end of the second instructional week, failing which you may be liable for fees.
Q3: If all my classes are taught online, can I remain overseas?
The default mode of assessments (both final examinations and continual assessments), will be face-to-face unless otherwise stated by the course lecturer. In general, you will be expected to attend the assessments in person, and no online option will be made available.
Q4: I am taking bridging courses or other NUS courses. How do I tell whether they are online or face-to-face?
A: You can check NUSMods to see if the class venue is listed as a classroom/lecture theatre or "E-Learn".
Q3: I understand that I have to serve extra 7 days of LOA on top of my SHN. Can I check in to my campus housing right after the SHN and serve the 7 days of LOA on campus?
Campus housing is managed by the Office of Student Affairs. If you have already secured campus housing for the coming semester, staff from the Residential Life team will get in touch with you to advise you accordingly on post-SHN matters.
