CDMS allows course instructors and designated administrators to perform unofficial Canvas course combination as a self-service. Identical to the existing process where the course instructor could decide the parent and child course(s) in any permutations, CDMS too provide this feature out of the box.

From Term 2420, the existing “child course” info from CMS is slated to be deprecated. Example screenshot:

Warning

CDMS only allow combining courses from the same Academic Year.demic Year.

Steps, in sequence:

Step 1: Proceed to CDMS URL and Login with your NUS ID credentials: https://inetapps.nus.edu.sg/cdms/

Step 2: Click ‘Course Site Combination’.

Step 3: Enter the course code, to set the parent. Click ‘Add’ button.

Note

For course instructors, you need to be enrolled in the course as ‘Teacher’ role to designate that particular course as the parent. This restriction is not applicable for the enrolled CDMS administrators.

Step 4: Enter the course code(s) for the corresponding child course(s). Drag and drop the courses for the listing sequence, if needed.

Only the course contents from the designated 'parent' course will be used/ retained when courses are combined.

Step 5: Click ‘Save’ once done. Immediately check on Canvas, ensure the course combination is successful (no need to wait >24hrs).

You may also use the Course Combination tool to un-combine and/ or perform a re-combine, accordingly.
