Q1: I am overseas and awaiting my Entry Approval. If I'm not able to arrive in Singapore in time, will my classes be affected?
A: NUS offers a mixture of face-to-face and online classes, in view of safe distancing measures. For the AY2021/2022 Cohort freshmen, please refer to the advisories below:
AY2021/2022 Cohort - Group A (EE, CEG, ME, ISE, ESP)
Module Code | Advisory for students stuck overseas |
---|---|
Engineering Principles & Practices I (various module codes) | Your Department will advise you accordingly. |
MA15xx (various modules under the Modelling & Simulation pillar) | Both lectures and tutorials are 100% e-learning. |
EG1311 Design and Make | Lectures are 100% e-learning. However, EG1311 will continue to have face-to-face lab sessions and lab work is heavily group-based. Students who are overseas should aim to arrive in Singapore in time for the lab sessions. If you are required to serve a Stay Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival or if your entry is delayed, you can attend the first lab session (beginning in Week 2 or 3). If your SHN extends beyond Week 3 or if you are unable to come to Singapore, please drop this module in ModReg and defer it to another semester. |
CS1010E Programming Methodology | Both lectures and tutorials are 100% e-learning Note: Assessments could be conducted face-to-face, subject to NUS' prevailing safe management measures. The module host (School of Computing) will decide closer to the date. |
AY2021/2022 Cohort - Group B (BME, CHE, CVE, EVE, MSE)

There is no fixed timing for the lecture; online video lectures will be pre-recorded for students to watch at your own time and at your own pace. Tutorials are face-to-face. Q2: I am taking bridging modules or other NUS modules. How do I tell whether they are online or face-to-face?
A: You can check NUSMods to see if the class venue is listed as a classroom/lecture theatre or "E-Learn".
Q3: I understand that I have to serve extra 7 days of LOA on top of my SHN. Can I check in to my campus housing right after the SHN and serve the 7 days of LOA on campus?
Campus housing is managed by the Office of Student Affairs. If you have already secured campus housing for the coming semester, staff from the Residential Life team will get in touch with you to advise you accordingly on post-SHN matters. Please keep a lookout for emails from your hostel. For enquiries, please visit https://www.hosteladmission.nus.edu.sg/
