Where can I use CDMS?

CDMS is activated on Academic courses only. The tool is available directly within the course navigation. Short courses e.g., WSQ courses are not on board with CDMS.

Do I still need to publish the Canvas course for non-enrolled students to view my Syllabus page? e.g., during CourseReg.

Yes, identical to current setup, publishing of course is mandatory so that students can access your Syllabus page.

Is CDMS exclusively for teaching staff / course instructors?

CDMS also provides elevated access for designated Course Coordinators and dept admins so that this group could access the Course Info e.g, assist to check or publish on behalf of course instructor. To access CDMS for the first time, please fill up the form here: Qualtrics Form

Do I need access to CMS, CMIS, Canvas with some level or administrator permissions to access CDMS?

CDMS works mutually exclusively. You need not have prior access to the said systems to be able to access CDMS. CDMS do not pass data back to CMS or CMIS too.

Is there a cut-off date to update my Canvas Syllabus page in CDMS?

Not in the current release. This may change in future, following the University’s decision.

My course is University / Faculty-controlled. I have made changes in CMS but it is not updated or reflected in CDMS yet.

Upon CMS info is published, the info will be sync-ed to CDMS. CDMS will show you a popup message to notify of the new version change. You will then need to refresh and re-publish the required items so that students can view the latest course information.

My course is Instructor-controlled, meaning I have more editable fields. Do I need to update both CMS and CDMS?

You only need to update CDMS. However do also check if your department requires to you perform an update on CMS as well, this process is not covered by CDMS.
