Your instructors can create a Canvas assignment that is integrated with Turnitin. Turnitin helps prevent plagiarism by checking your submission against web pages, scholarly journals, and student paper database.

Unlike regular Canvas assignments, you are only allowed to upload one file per Turnitin assignment. If your instructors allow resubmission, the next submission will overwrite your previous submission. This is regardless of the document title, format etc.

When you enter an assignment that has been integrated with Turnitin, you will see the Turnitin Assignment Dashboard.

To submit / upload your assignment, you can refer to Turnitin’s guide on submitting a paper. Please make sure you follow the submission requirements for your course.

Things to note when submitting your assignment:

Recommended: To prevent disputes, download the Digital Receipt after submission and save the receipt.

You can also download the digital receipt via the ellipsis (three dots) under Options, then Download digital receipt.

Resubmissions & viewing the similarity report

You may also be required to review your own assignment or do a peer review of your classmates' assignments. Turnitin calls this PeerMark. This involves reviewing one or more predetermined classmates' assignment(s) and/or one or more classmates' assignments of your choice. Please refer to Turnitin's guide on Peer Review for details on how to use PeerMark in Turnitin.
