Accessing edX through Canvas
National University of Singapore has partnered with edX to offer easy access to more than 1500 edX courses in a variety of subjects. You may choose to take edX courses for your own personal and professional development.
Step 1: Login to Canvas with your NUS-ID.
Step 2: From the global navigation (left menu), go to DYOC and select edX Courses for the list of active courses available on http://edx.org.
Browse according to Pacing Type, Subject Area, Suggested Units etc., and scroll the Excel table to the right for more information about each course., and use the Filter function to search with keywords.
For students doing Design-Your-Own-Course (DYOC):
Total Effort =
(Length x Min Effort) + (Length x Max Effort)

For example, for a course of 9 weeks and 2-4 hours per week,
Total Effort = 27 hours
(9 x 2h) + (9 x 4h)

Do refer to the guidelines on DYOC website (Expand Option A and find the table UNIT EQUIVALENTS).
edX courses on Canvas are synced daily to display active courses with current or upcoming course runs. Your previous enrolment and progress will not be affected by this catalogue. It is recommended that you refer to the course information on edX for latest updates regularly before and during enrolment of course for any updates made by the partner institution.
You are encouraged to screenshot the suggested number of Units for future reference, and cross check with course information on edX.org before upgrading to verified track.
Please note that NUS reserves the right to vary the awarded course units from the 'suggested units' in Canvas, if the course host subsequently revises the stipulated effort hours for the course after it is mounted.
