We are currently working towards implementing SSO on Blog.nus.

Tentatively, it will be implemented early in AY24/25 Sem 2.

When this happens, only current NUS staff and students will be able to log in to Blog.nus.

For security reasons, non-NUS logins to Blog.nus will no longer be supported.

  1. If you have blog(s) that have non-NUS users, you will need to make sure there are NUS staff or students who are able to administer the respective blog(s).

  2. Non-NUS users who have been accessing private blogs by using a Blog.nus account will no longer be able to do so.

  3. Public blogs can still be public i.e. readable without login.

Will my blog content be affected?

No, this change does not affect the contents of your blog. It may affect access to your blog. Please refer to the details above.

My blog is public (readable). Will it be affected?

Your blog’s site visibility does not change because of SSO.

If your blog is set to:

  • Allow search engines to index this site, or

  • Discourage search engines from indexing this site, then:

It is readable by public (i.e. without need to log in), and it will continue to be as such.

Non-NUS users with local Blog.nus accounts will not be able to access nor edit blogs that are private i.e. set to one of the following options, once SSO is implemented:

  • Only registered users of Blog.nus can view this site.

  • Only registered users of this site can view it - anyone added as a user to Users > All Users.

  • Only admin users of this site can view it.

I have set my blog to Only someone who provides the following password can view this site. Will non-NUS users still be able to access my blog?

Yes, they will still be able to access the blog if they know the blog password.

Non-NUS users are not able to access blogs that are restricted access by account i.e. they will not be able to access nor edit blogs set to one of the following options:

  • Only registered users of Blog.nus can view this site.

  • Only registered users of this site can view it - anyone added as a user to Users > All Users.

  • Only admin users of this site can view it. (If the non-NUS user is an admin in the blog.)

Can NUS visitors log in to Blog.nus when SSO is implemented?

Yes, users with NUS Visitor accounts are able to log in to Blog.nus when SSO is implemented.
