How to Combine Canvas Courses?

CDMS allows course instructors and designated administrators to perform unofficial Canvas course combination as a self-service. Identical to the existing process where the course instructor could decide the parent and child course(s) in any permutations, CDMS too provide this feature out of the box.

From Term 2420, the existing “child course” info from CMS is slated to be deprecated. Example screenshot:

CDMS will be used exclusively to perform course site combination in Canvas via the main CDMS portal: Class Data Management System

Where the course has multiple instructors, please communicate internally e.g., who will perform the combination, which course will be the ‘parent’. Combined course is instantaneously reflected in Canvas (no waiting or confirmation needed).

Step 1: Proceed to CDMS URL and Login with your NUS ID credentials: Class Data Management System

Step 2: Click ‘Course Site Combination’.

Step 3: Enter the course code, to set the parent. Click ‘Add’ button.

Step 4: Enter the course code(s) for the corresponding child course(s). Drag and drop the courses for the listing sequence, if needed.

Step 5: Click ‘Save’ once done. Immediately check on Canvas, ensure the course combination is successful (no need to wait >24hrs).
