Is Microsoft Teams secure

Is Microsoft Teams secure

Q: Are my files and conversations in Microsoft Teams secure?

A: Microsoft Teams is part of the Office 365 suite that is cleared by NUS IT as an enterprise-subscribed cloud solution.

It is built on the Office 365 hyper-scale, enterprise-grade cloud, delivering advanced security and compliance capabilities. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Files are stored in SharePoint and are backed by SharePoint encryption. Notes are stored in OneNote and are backed by OneNote encryption.

Q: Where are the files created and shared within Microsoft Teams stored?

A: Each team has a team site in SharePoint Online, and each channel gets a folder within the team site document library. Files shared within a conversation are automatically added to the document library, which can be found under Files tab at the top of each channel.

Note: We do not recommend customising any permissions in SharePoint Online as they may not be reflected in Teams.

Files that you share in a private or group chat are stored in your OneDrive folder "Microsoft Teams Chat Files", and are only shared with the people in that conversation. These will be found in the Files tab at the top of a chat.
