Students dropped from courses - how do we deal with them?

There are different scenarios for student enrolment statuses and how they are handled. This page lists the scenarios.

Students dropped from active Courses

Students who drop the course (for any reason, including changes to student status) will be considered inactive enrolments in the course.

There is a one-time cleanup of inactive enrolments at the start of the W grade period of each semester, to remove inactive enrolments during the course registration exercise. Any inactive enrolments that appear after this date indicate a student who has dropped the course or a staff who no longer teaches the course. These inactive enrolments will be retained so that the associated data can be reinstated, if needed.

Students dropped from past Courses

There are two types of student leavers in past courses.

Dropped Students Before Inactive Enrolments

  • Dropped students do not appear anymore and their submissions are not accessible to the instructors.

Dropped Students After Inactive Enrolments

Graduated

  • Students will no longer be listed in the course and teachers will not be able to access their submissions.
