I do not see my Course on the Dashboard. Why is my Course missing from the Dashboard?

If you do not see a Course you are teaching on your Dashboard, please follow each of these steps in order.

Have academic courses been provisioned?

Please refer to the course creation workflow in Canvas to view the provisioning schedule.

The exact provisioning date for each semester varies within the listed month. e.g. Semester 1 courses are provisioned in April. Please allow that this may courses for Semester 1 are provisioned towards the end of April.

Check that you are listed as lecturer in CMIS

If you are sure that academic courses have already been provisioned, it may be that you are not listed as a Teacher for the course in the NUS’ Class Timetabling System (CMIS).

Please get in touch with your CMIS Departmental Contact, and they will be able to update CMIS. Changes made through CMIS will appear the following day in your Canvas sites.

Check that your course is starred

You can control the courses that appear in your Dashboard via Courses (below Dashboard on the Global Navigation Menu).

Click All Courses on the sidebar that appears. Direct link to All Courses.

Here you will see a list of all your current, future and past courses. If the missing course is visible here, star the course. Doing so will enable the course to be seen on the Dashboard. Do note that the Dashboard can only display up to 20 courses (includes published and unpublished courses).

Check whether your course is part of a combined Course

Sometimes, if your Course is part of cross-listed or merged course, then you may not see your Course, as it is combined with another Course.

Has your course passed its end date?

If none of the above work...

Finally, if you have gone through all the above steps and still do not see the course, please let us know at the Canvas Instructor Helpdesk.

Please include in your message the course and section you are teaching so that the we can troubleshoot the problem.
